Beverly M. Eigenberg OBITUARY
Beverly M. Eigenberg (nee Goodman), a.k.a “Miss Bev”, age 87, a Naperville, IL resident since 1973, formerly of Newark, NY, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Lombard Place Assisted Living & Memory Care in Lombard, IL. She was born on January 1, 1938, in Moravia, NY.
Beloved wife of the late Harry Eigenberg, whom she was united in marriage to on November 12, 1960, in Forest Hills, NY and who preceded her in death on March 18, 2008. Loving mother of Helen (Peter Buonocore) Eigenberg of Los Angeles, CA, Elisabeth (Dr. Jon Njardarson) Eigenberg of Ithaca, NY, and David (Chrysti) Eigenberg of Chicago, IL, adored grandmother of Louie and Myra Eigenberg, devoted daughter of the late Robert and Phyllis Goodman, dear sister of Vivian (the late Jimmy) Dendecker, Judy (the late Dick) Stillson, the late Robert (the late Lynn) Goodman and the late Phyllis (the late Dick) Phelan, fond aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many.
Beverly “Miss Bev” had a wonderful life, full of joy and love of family and friends and the love of all the young children she taught and loved in her nursery school for 30 years. Creative Nursery School in Naperville was her pride and joy, and her teachers and her partner, Carol Tice, all found a loving place to teach the young children growing up in Naperville and they became like family to her.
Beverly also started the nursery school at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Naperville in the late 1970’s and then later at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Naperville giving them grounding and careful guidance to teach all our children to love each other to respect each other and to show compassion for each other.
Beverly then went on to give tremendously to Naperville’s Sister City Nitra, Slovakia. She helped at the children’s orphanage and assisted them in setting up a nursery school for the children there.
Bev was a giver, a helper, a leader, and a lover of life. She was a full person with all the fullness and frailties that life holds.
Her loving husband, Harry, was her partner in life and business and they produced three wonderful children, Elizabeth, Helen, and David who grew into productive, loving servants of the communities they live in. Her grandchildren, Louie and Myrna, brought a smile to her face when she spent time with them that could light a football field. Her sister, Vivian, kept in constant contact with her, and they shared the love of their youth and life with their family in Newark, New York.
Not to be redundant, but she was a lover of life of all people… All people. The children of the world were her flower to behold and nurture. Bev spent her last three years at the memory care unit at Lombard Place in Lombard and was made to feel at home by some of the most caring and loving people who serve our most valued citizens, our seniors.
We thank all the people who loved her and cared for her and brought joy to her life. Bev wishes love and peace to all as she goes on to hold hands with her love, Harry, and her Savior, Jesus Christ. Bev will be deeply missed but always remembered.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, 1:00-5:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. A celebration of Bev’s life will follow Sunday, at 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
